Erin Maybee Durnell focuses her practice on all aspects of family law. Erin’s experience as a family law attorney includes custody proceedings, marital estate divisions, child support matters, and paternity actions. She also represents clients in adoption matters, including stepparent adoptions, and works with clients in securing grandparent visitation, protective orders, prenuptial agreements, and estate planning documents. Additionally, Erin works with BKR’s Immigration Group on Special Immigrant Juvenile matters, assisting undocumented children who are the victims of abuse, abandonment, or neglect.
Erin endeavors to resolve domestic relations matters through the use of mediation and informal negotiation, but appears frequently in central Indiana courts to advocate her clients’ positions at trial. Erin is a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator, a trained collaborative law professional, and a trained domestic relations arbitrator. In addition to representing individual clients, she regularly serves in various third party neutral roles: as mediator/arbitrator, as guardian ad litem appointed by the court to represent the best interests of children, and as parenting coordinator for high conflict cases. Prior to joining BKR, Erin worked for the Indianapolis Bar Association; Girls, Inc.; the Association of Fraternity Advisors; and Midwest Reproductive Medicine.
